Is there a fee to participate?
No. The hackathon is 100% FREE and open to the public.
Is there an age requirement?
You must be 18 years or older to enter without supervision. If you're under 18, please get written permission from a responsible adult. Attendees under 18 must be supervised by their adult or guardian at all times, or left with our childcare service provider. See our Code of Conduct for more information.

What time does the event start and end?
The Space Apps Bootcamp starts at 8:00AM ET on Friday, April 22nd. Hackathon doors open Saturday 4/23 at 8:00 a.m. ET on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. Breakfast is available for hackathon participants, and everything kicks off at 9:15 a.m. ET (Please note that you MUST be an ACTIVE hackathon participant and be present on site on BOTH Saturday and Sunday in order to be eligible for refreshments, gifts, and freebies). We will also be able to work overnight throughout the weekend in the LMHQ venue!
Can I watch the event online?
Yes. The Friday conference will be livestreamed on our home page at http://spaceappsnyc.com, and the Sunday hackathon demos will also be broadcast online.
Can I join a team?
Yes. If you don't have a team, come solo and make friends! You could also join a team as a Virtual Participant. You may also already have a team - totally fine as long as you're all registered (including Virtual Participants, all team members must be registered at http://2016.spaceappschallenge.org).
How will my project be judged?
Your project will be locally judged on the following criteria: creativity, ease of use, level of complexity, use of available NASA resources, and team dynamics. For more details, see the official judging page at the Space Apps site.
Who will be judging my project?
A panel of experts from tech, business, science, and citizen science.
Will you feed me?
We will provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, and snacks and beverages, but you're welcome to order and retrieve your own delivery or purchase food in the surrounding area. Please note that if you buy your own food, it is at your own expense. We do not provide reimbursements. We try to accomodate a broad range of dietary requirements, but if yours are very unique, please bring suitable food for yourself.
I don't code or solder. Can I come?
Absolutely! There will be numerous challenges for people with no programming or hardware experience.
